I was looking for a parkrun we could run on our way over to Southport. Ideally it would have access to showers. The wonderful Tawd Valley parkrun was recommended to me on the basis that not only was it next to a leisure centre, but it was a must run parkrun course as the course itself was unique.
I had no idea what to expect but it definitely defied expectations! The team here are utterly amazing and maybe as playful as their parkrun course is... Check out their Facebook page if you don't believe me! It's highly entertaining, just like the run itself. An undulating lollipop out-and-back this course has a little bit of everything! The underpasses were my favourite, along with the peaceful sections in the trees... And the diversion to the playground, despite it making me very dizzy! This course is as close as you can get to running on someone's doorstep, or through their back garden, at the same time as running in nature, next to a roundabout, on a hidden river path, over river and road bridges, and even across a school crossing. Ingenious course design, delivered impeccably. I even learnt a thing or two about kingfishers! Isn't parkrun just incredible!
Huge thanks to the wonderful volunteer team for a brilliant parkrun morning, it's certainly one I will remember!
