Irish Foreign Minister and Minister for Defence Helen McEntee said Ireland will continue supporting strong EU sanctions against Russia.

Speaking at the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers — Gymnich in Druids Glen, County Wicklow, Ireland, McEntee said a recent report had been provided to the European Commission and also shared with Ukrainian colleagues.

She stressed that Ireland has supported every single sanctions package put forward against Russia.

McEntee said Ireland worked closely with partners to ensure the 21st sanctions package was implemented.

She said the next focus is on more than 1,600 individuals and entities, and how the EU can move forward against them.

McEntee also made clear that Ireland wants to see what more can be done beyond the current measures.

Her message was firm: Ireland will not be found wanting. Dublin will work closely with the Commission on any future sanctions to keep pressure on Russia and support Ukraine.
