Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu spoke at the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers — Gymnich in Druids Glen, County Wicklow, Ireland.
Țoiu said Romania is working with Germany, France and more than a dozen other countries to strengthen the European Union’s position ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, so Europe can speak with one voice and act with greater speed.
She made food security a central priority, warning that the global cereal price index has increased by around 6–7% compared with the same period last year. Romania wants to help lower food prices by supporting the transit of Ukrainian cereals.
Țoiu said Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and other partners discussed logistical support to increase transit through Constanța port and the Solidarity Lanes, helping Ukrainian grain reach the Middle East and Africa while protecting EU agricultural markets.
She also warned about the spillover effects of Russia’s illegal war on the eastern flank and the Black Sea, pointing to more hybrid interference and drone incursions. Romania, she said, has increased its military capacity for defence and deterrence.
Țoiu stressed Romania’s solidarity with Germany against hybrid interference and said Romania will act diplomatically as Europe faces growing security threats.
Her warning was clear: Ukraine’s grain, Black Sea security, food prices and Europe’s diplomatic strength are now part of the same battle. Europe must move faster, speak louder and stand together.
