We got a chance to see behind the scenes at the Discovery Collections at the National Oceanography Centre.
It’s a massive library of deep-sea creatures collected from oceans around the world. Some of the oldest specimens date back to 1925.
The collection helps researchers understand how deep-sea life and ocean environments have changed over time.
So many of the creatures we find in our ocean have never been discovered before! But finding them, naming them and preserving them is fundamental for our understanding of ocean biodiversity.
