Join Stewart Mackay, Captain of the National Oceanography Centre's RRS Discovery, for a whistle stop tour of the science and facilities on board, before it headed off to the North Atlantic earlier this year.

Ships like the Discovery allow scientists to reach some of the most remote parts of our oceans to uncover vital clues about ocean health and climate change.

On this expedition, scientists were collecting data on climate-cooling gases released from the ocean’s surface, to help us make better climate models.
