Five years ago, I made a popular video showing how to make your own grounding (earthing) mat for about $10. It’s still one of my favorite videos — and one that many viewers have said helped them a lot.
Back then, I stopped using my grounding mat because I kept tripping over the cord in my bedroom and almost hurt myself. So I put it away and honestly forgot about it… until recently.
After watching Dr. Peter Rogers talk about grounding on his YouTube channel, I decided to dig mine out and give it another try. I’ve been using it again for about a week now — and the other night, I had one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in years.
Now, I can’t say for sure it’s just the grounding mat — I’ve also been eating better, exercising more, and trying to take better care of myself overall. But since restarting grounding, I’ve definitely noticed I feel better.
In this video, I share my experience, some safety tips, and why I think grounding is worth trying — especially if you make your mat properly and test your electrical outlets first. I also show how to check that your outlets are safe with a simple tester (link below), and include links to the copper screen and materials you’ll need if you’d like to make one yourself.
If you live in an apartment like I do, running a wire outside to a grounding rod isn’t always possible — so I use the building’s grounding system after checking the outlet carefully.
