I'm struggling to make sense of a lot of things right now; mostly of the technical nature but it sure ain't comfortable. Not all that cool that my life's flow hinges on tech platforms and their leader's whims, but hey, it's 2019 and as they say "such is life".
Aside from the name being appropriate for my present moment, this track provides me a much-needed six minutes and twenty-six seconds of solace. A retreat away from my mind and into my body. With its hypnotic rhythmic jump my chest tenseness loosens. The synths steady my breath. The drop at 48 seconds gets my foot tapping and by the 1:02 mark I'm full on grooving.
Ian Pooley has come up many times the past year and while I've enjoyed a lot of his stuff, this is the first track that is a no-brainer for Rock With This. Also it dropped like yesterday, so even more perfect. Pooley is a German-born producer and DJ who incorporate samples of various musical genres throughout his productions. His creations are usually classified as house or tech house with a fair share of Brazilian influence. Not sure I'm feeling the Brazil here, but that's AOK.
Sometimes we gotta just take a step back from it all and write or dance or breath or just sit there and give ourselves a big ass hug. I think it's those moments that make life truly worth living.
