Winter in the Rockey Mountains can be brutal but people have survived here for thousands of years without modern technology. In this winter bushcraft and survival video I spend 3 days in the mountains with only a buffalo hide for shelter. No sleeping bag, no tent, no lighter or ferro rod for starting a fire. I'd have to build my own bushcraft shelter and figure out how to stay warm. Grouse hunting season is still open so I took my flintlock fowler along just in case. Staying warm and comfortable with minimal gear required me to make a friction fire, build a bough bed and stacked log wall. I also found a nice tree well which served as a natural survival shelter. A fatwood stump provided all the fuel I needed and kept me warm for days.
