I stopped eating regular hot dogs because of the high salt, fat, and chemical content, but every once in a while, I want a good hot dog and a bun with some sauerkraut, especially in the summertime. I have tried tofurkey soy-based Italian sausage before, and they were actually quite good, but I can't find them anymore, so I was looking for some hot dogs and found a can of vegetarian hot dogs from Loma Linda on sale at Walmart. They come in a can. The sale price was under $6. I'm a cheap booger, and that's a lot of money to me for hot dogs, but I went ahead and bought them. I was surprised.
The taste, texture, and appearance were very similar to a hot dog, and it had half the fat and salt of a regular hot dog. I am not happy with the price, but compared to other hot dogs, it seems about the same. I also like the fact these are shelf stable.
