In this video, I take a resin and pinecone blank and turn it into the perfect gift—a beautiful handcrafted bottle opener! The blank was cast using Alumilite Clear Slow resin with Wisteria Purple and Junjin Silver mica powder from Eye Candy Pigments, creating a mesmerizing swirl of colours.
I turned this piece on my Harvey T60S wood lathe, using negative rake carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools for smooth and precise shaping. For the finish, I applied Yorkshire Grit Original and Yorkshire Grit Microfine, then tried something new—Hampshire Sheen Citrus Burnishing Oil—to bring out an incredible shine.
To complete the project, I used Niles Bottle Opener hardware, making this not just a functional tool but a truly unique and thoughtful gift.
