Welcome to my channel! In this video, I'm excited to share with you a mesmerizing project I've called "Ice." Using a combination of creative materials and techniques, I've crafted a stunning piece on the Harvey T60S wood lathe.
To start, I used Alumilite Quick Slow resin, known for its excellent clarity and durability. I combined it with beautiful burl wood, which adds a touch of organic elegance to the final result. To enhance the visual appeal, I incorporated a mix of blue and white mica powder, creating an icy, ethereal effect.
For the turning process, I relied on the outstanding performance of negative rake carbide cutters from Easy Wood Tools. These cutters make the turning experience smoother and more precise, allowing me to shape the piece with ease.
After achieving the desired form, I moved on to the finishing stages. First, I wet sanded the piece meticulously, gradually progressing to a fine 1000-grit sandpaper. This process ensures a flawlessly smooth surface and brings out the resin's natural luster.
To take the piece's finish to the next level, I employed Yorkshire Grit. This high-quality abrasive paste enhances the shine and smoothness of the material, giving it a professional, showroom-worthy appearance.
Finally, I completed the project by using buffing wheels, which added an exquisite sheen and depth to the resin and wood. The combination of careful sanding, Yorkshire Grit, and buffing creates a captivating visual and tactile experience, inviting viewers to admire the intricate details and craftsmanship.
