In this video, I turn a bowl from ash wood on the Harvey T60S lathe, and take it to the next level with added texture and colour!
After turning the basic form using carbide tools, I grab the Dremel with the SC544 cutting/shaping wheel to add some custom texture to the outside of the bowl. Ash wood takes texture beautifully, and the result is a tactile surface full of character.
To really make that texture pop, I used Ruby stain from the Hampshire Sheen Intrinsic Colour Range. The deep red stain settles into the textured grooves, highlighting all that detail and giving the bowl a bold, artistic look.
✨ Finishing Touches:
Yorkshire Grit – for a smooth surface inside the bowl
Hampshire Sheen Finishing Wax – for a soft, lustrous finish that brings the whole piece together
