About this video: Do you want to know how to reduce lag in Minecraft? Well, this video shows you exactly that, and to get started, you will want to download the CuresForge App. There is a link to our guide on the CurseForge App above, and on that page, click the Download button to go to their official page. On that page, click “Download Standalone” and the app will download.
The reason we are getting CurseForge is because we are going to fix Minecraft lag using the NotiFine modpack. This is our performance modpack that can increase FPS significantly while stopping lag and improving choppiness.
The modpack is based on Sodium, which is linked above, if you would rather use it directly. However, things are added on top of Sodium to boost performance even more.
After you have the app installer downloaded, run it and install CurseForge just like any other program. When you are finished, it will open. Click on Minecraft, select “Standard” and click continue. Then, at the top search for “NotiFine” and install it. Play Minecraft using it and then, from the main menu, go to options, video settings.
Here, we can start optimizing things to reduce lag. The general rule of thumb is to turn things all the way down at first and disable shaders. Make sure the “Performance” tab has everything turned on however. This is where you can get a big boost in FPS.
Also, make sure shaders are disabled. This is a huge lag center that will lower FPS a ton.
From there, you should see more FPS right away. You can now increase things like render distance, visual settings, and different options to see what affects your FPS the least and what should be disabled.
