About this video: This is our complete guide on how to make a Minecraft server in 26.1.2. Whether this is your first time setting one up or you are just getting started on a fresh version, we cover everything you need to know to get your server online and your friends connected.
To start things off, you will need to download the Minecraft server.jar for 26.1.2. There is a link in the description above to the Minecraft server files directory. On that page, find the 26.1.2 version and click the download button next to it. The server.jar file will then start downloading.
With that, we can move on to actually setting up your Minecraft server. Start off my making a “Minecraft Server 26.1.2” folded and moving your server.jar to it. Then, double-click the server.jar file. You should get some files and folders that appear. If not, you need to download and install Java 25 from the link above.
Once you have the eula.txt that generates from the server file, open it with notepad. change "eula=false" to "eula=true", and save the file. From there, double-click the server.jar again. This time around, your Minecraft 26.1.2 server will fully start up and go online.
To test that everything is working, open Minecraft and try joining the server using the IP "localhost". You are the only person who can use that IP address to connect, but it is a great way to confirm the server is running without any issues before bringing your friends on.
For your friends to join, you will need port forward the port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. There is a complete guide to port forwarding above. Once your port forward is done, your friends can join using your public IP.
