In this woodturning video I take a Sapele bowl blank and turn it into a simple yet beautiful wooden bowl.

Sometimes keeping a design clean and simple really allows the natural beauty of the wood to shine, and Sapele definitely didn’t disappoint! The grain and rich warm tones made this a really enjoyable project from start to finish.

As always, this bowl was turned on my Record Power Coronet Herald wood lathe using Easy Wood Tools carbide turning tools.

For the finish, I used:
• Yorkshire Grit Abrasive Paste
• Hampshire Sheen Microcrystalline Wax

This combination left the bowl feeling silky smooth while enhancing the natural depth and shimmer of the Sapele grain.
