About this video: You have joined a Minecraft server, and it has voice chat. However, it isn’t working. How do you actually get voice chat in Minecraft Java Edition and start using it?
Well, it starts off by downloading the Simple Voice Chat mod. There is a link to the download page above where you will want to download the Fabric version of the mod.
From there, you’ll also need to download and install the Fabric Mod Loader. This is what actually allows voice chat to be used in Java Edition linking the mod and Minecraft together. Our complete guide on getting Fabric is linked above.
Once you have Fabric, we can move on to how to install voice chat in Minecraft Java. Open up the Minecraft Launcher and go to the “Installations” tab. There, you will see Fabric. Click the folder icon on it, and your .minecraft folder will open.
Drag-and-drop the Simple Voice Chat mod into the mods folder. It’s that easy to add voice chat to Minecraft.
Now, all you need to do is play Minecraft using Fabric. When you do, Minecraft will launch, and you can join your server. You will see a microphone in the bottom left, and you can access voice chat settings with the “V” key on your keyboard and mute/unmute your mic with “M”.
