About this video: Forge is one of the most popular Minecraft mod loaders of all time. It supports thousands of mods, and this video shows you how to install it for any version that you want.
To get started, you will want to download Forge. There is a link in the description above that will take you to our complete guide on getting Forge. Click the download button there to go to the official download page. Select the version you want on the left-hand side and then, click “Installer” under “Download Latest”.
You will then be taken to a page where you want to wait about 10 seconds and click the “Skip Ad” button in the top right. The Forge Installer file will then begin downloading. You are save to keep or save it.
Now, we need to open it. Right-click on the file you downloaded, selected “Open With” and “Java”. If you don’t have Java our guide on getting it is linked above.
Next, all we need to do install Forge is click “Install Client” and click “Okay”. Forge will start downloading right away and install itself into your Minecraft Launcher.
You probably want to play Minecraft with mods though now that you have Forge. There is a link above to CurseForge and Modrinth. These are the most popular places to download pages. Any Forge mods for the version you installed will work. Just make sure you get compatibility/library mods for any mods you download as if you don’t have those, things won’t work.
To install the Forge mods you downloaded, open the Minecraft Launcher and go to the “Installations” tab. Click the folder icon that appears. This will open your .minecraft folder. You should have a "mods" folder inside of it. Drag-and-drop any Forge mods you want to install into this folder.
Go back to the launcher and play Minecraft using your Forge installation. It will open up with your mods installed!
