About this video: Changing your Steam region is not always as simple as selecting a new country in your account settings. In this video, we show you how to change your Steam Store country, explain how this affects your Steam Wallet country, and cover the requirements you may need to meet before Steam allows the change.
To get started, click your account name in the top-right corner of Steam and select “Account Details.” From there, click “Update Store Country.” Steam will explain that you must either contact Steam Support or complete a purchase using a payment method associated with the country you want to switch to.
If you contact Steam Support, select your new country and explain why you need the region changed, such as recently moving there. Steam may require proof that you live in the new country, including proof of your address or residency. We walk you through where to submit this request and what information Steam may ask you to provide.
The other option is to add a game to your cart, continue to payment, and select a payment method from your new country. However, this does not work equally well for every region. Steam restricts region changes to prevent people from taking advantage of regional pricing, so you may still be directed back to Steam Support. Your Steam Store and Wallet countries are linked, meaning this process changes both of them.
We also explain how to change the country displayed publicly on your Steam profile. This is a separate setting that does not affect your Store or Wallet region. Simply open your Steam profile, click “Edit Profile,” scroll to the country setting, select any country you want displayed, and save your changes.
