How I like to cook rutabagas. How do you like to cook rutabagas? I like to use parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and small amount of brown sugar.
Ingredients:
One large rutabaga
rind of good parmesan
1 teaspoon salt or a little more
1/4th to 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
1/3 stick butter (one ounce or two ounces)
2 slices bacon (optional)
Parmesan for topping
You can also add butter to you liking, as little or as much as you like!

Start a pot of water with 2 slices bacon and any parmesan rinds you may have, boil for 25 minutes while you cut up the rutabaga.
You must peel the rutabaga with a large knife also removing the outer layer of wax.
Rutabagas are waxed to give a longer shelf life in the grocery store. Depending on how old the rutabaga is the cooking (boiling) time can be up to 90 minutes down to as little as 35 minutes to get soft and delicious.

I could not fine my potato masher, so I used a large serving fork to mash up the rutabaga into a chunky rustic finish.

Thank you for watching!
