This Part 13 of the series describing how I built an outdoor sign for a local community organization. It goes over the engineering decisions involved in designing a wooden sign that will resist degradation by the weather, and hopefully will last for many years.

It details how I designed in order to account for wood movement, a problem well known to many woodworkers.
