When I was researching bowl coring systems, the McNaughton system was recommended to me as the most versatile. However, it is also the trickiest to set up. This may leave some to either not buy it at all or abandon if after they bought it. The one I got was used off of eBay, presumably for that reason.
I found a number of great videos on YouTube that described how to start the cut at the appropriate angle, but all of them required you to eyeball the cut.

The engineer in me wanted something a bit more concrete, and I was lucky enough to stumble across Gavin Brunton’s videos where he designed a system to calculate the appropriate angle, and a jig to set that angle.

I was in the market for a 3-D printer, and this pushed me over the edge. I followed his YouTube instructions almost to the letter, only I built it in fusion 360 (CAD) And printed it on my 3-D printer.
