In perhaps the most unlikely location anywhere, in the jungle off the highway to the north of Bangkok, there's a brand-new ice rink where a ragtag collection of ice hockey players gather for games alongside young Thai prodigies and overseas pros, attracted by this most incongruous of sports.

And perhaps the most famous hockey name of them all, Tom Stastny- cousin, son, and nephew of five NHL stars and a former high-level pro in his own right- isn't inside the rink as much as just outside, where he's built perhaps the best donut shop anywhere on the continent.

To understand Tom Stastny's perfect donuts, we have to delve into the wild world of Thai ice hockey, the people that held the culture together during the lean years, the epic characters involved in the game, the idea of "community" and how even the unlikeliest of cultures can thrive given the right environment...and the right donut.
