...My brother in law found a large honeycomb on the edge of the rubber land where he works. It's the start of the rainy season here & with this comb being exposed the bees will abandon this to find a more sheltered location.

...I've harvested smaller combs before from the dwarf honey bees but they can't actually sting. These though were the larger more aggressive honey bees that definitely do sting so I left this harvest to our neighbour who has more experience with these.

...The honey cells  are located on the top of the comb & underneath are all the cells with developing larvae which are steamed, or in this case, roasted on the fire. High in protein they have a nice creamy taste enhanced even more by a dip in some fresh honey.

...This particular comb yield around two & a half litres of honey which is relatively small compared to some of the protected combs located under cliff over hangs which can yield up to ten litres. The residue from the comb after the honey has been squeezed out will be boiled up to extract the wax too.
