...This week's #toptipsontuesdays is an alternative accelerant to wood ashes for the fire roll.
.
...I use the term "accelerant " because the ashes help spread the ember once you get ignition but they also act as a binding agent that helps the fibres stick together by friction keeping the roll compact & this friction, through rolling, causes the heat that ignites the roll.
.
...Anyway apart from wood ashes there are alternatives like rust as I illustrate here. There are other alternatives too & there's a playlist on my YouTube channel (link in bio) that covers what I've got to work so far & I'm continually experimenting so I'm sure I'll be adding quite a few more too.
