12 days remain in the 44th Canadian federal election and Erin O'Toole's Conservatives and the Trudeau Liberals both find themselves effectively stuck, with O'Toole's CPC polling slightly ahead in national rankings, but slightly behind in some seat distribution models. in other words, it's too close to call.
But the PPC at least appears to be gaining momentum, although some polls still show familiarly low levels of support for the fourth and in some cases fifth place party headed up by Maxime Bernier, and most pundits agree support for such fringe parties is expected to soften as the election nears and voters consider the stakes more accurately and less academically - or in the case of gun owners, emotionally.
