Green Bubbler Geyser
Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).
Green Bubbler Geyser is a moderately small, fountain-type geyser in the northern Sapphire Group (“Biscuit Basin”) of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. The vent is located at 44º 29’ 10.78” North latitude, 110º 51’ 21.21” West longitude. Background activity in 2023 ranged from quiet to gentle steaming to occasional spitting to occasional low splashing. Relatively short episodes of increased energy (= higher and more frequent spitting and low splashing) can occur, with no follow-up eruption. Some consider this latter behavior to be an “eruption”. Actual eruptions are decent-sized (for a small feature) and are less than one-half minute in duration - usually about 20 seconds. Observed intervals (= eruption start to eruption start) are erratic and range from 14 minutes to 1.7 hours.
