We recently ran a team-building event at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, creating a raft and feeders for the giant otters. We weren't convinced the otters would go near it on the initial trial, but the results were amazing.
The raft is constructed with a ring of pipe underneath to aid in buoyancy, which worked great once the otters started to climb aboard. Around the end of the raft are four eye bolts, which can all have the puzzle feeders attached. The HDPE puzzle feeders should also float on their own if the keepers want to use them as individual feeders, but that is still to be tested.
Over the two-hour build, the group created four feeders and one raft. As a prototype, there was plenty of problem-solving to be done, and the group completed the task brilliantly
