When designing our latest team-building event, we were asked by the keepers at Yorkshire Wildlife Park if we could create something that allowed trays of grass to be provided to the gelada in the shut-off area. This, along with renewing the well-used furniture in the same area led to a fantastic build.
The two main structures are multi-level, with a resting area, step seats, and a lockable area for the trays of grass to be put in. It's simply a case of opening the hatch, sliding the tray in, and then locking it. The gelada then accesses the grass through the meshed top.
Both of these structures are then linked with suspended platforms which create a series of steps between them, all hung from the roof by strong fire hose.
It was a tough build with a lot of components, but the team from Sheffield University did an amazing job and the finished result is fantastic. Well done team!
