When we were last at Whipsnade Zoo constructing the high-wire feeders for the wild dogs, we were asked to take part in their BMC (behavioral Management Committee) evening, where members were doing lots of updates in the cheetah paddocks.
As part of the evening, we worked with some of the members to create two feeders. The mechanics of the feeders use sliding door runners and tracks to create a feeder that slides back and forth as the food is eaten. Of course, other enrichment items can be put on it instead. The track is hidden behind a half-round log, so from the public side, none of it is visible. The track has holes in the top where a bolt/bolts can be dropped in the top so that the two wheels can be kept apart, perfect if you want two pieces of food on one device and don't want them to come too close together.

A huge thanks to the team at Whipsnade for having us along, we had a great evening, and the pizza was very welcome!
