RobReports | Galaxy Watch 3 WATER test. Underwater, Water Ejection, etc. @Robrob007 | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated May 04 2024
In this video I will water test this Galaxy watch 3. Samsung says this watch is good for 50 meter water resistant or 5 Atmospheres.
That is pretty standard for a modern smartwatch. it is pretty impressive if you consider that there is a microphone and a speaker on this watch. I always worry about the speaker getting damaged.
Even though this watch has a pretty good water resistant rating, it comes with a leather band out of the box. leather band are not even meant to be splashed with water. water and leather are not a very good combination.
You'll see that after this 30 minutes or so test, the leather band got very wet, water entered the band. this band was not made as nice as my Huawei watch gt, that band is also leather but the back is covered with plastic and didn't look that bad after a similar test.
honestly this leather band is bad for sports, water and it is too boring in my opinion, it doesn't taper or have little 3 d thickness effect. I use my watch on a silicone band, but for this test I'll use the original band for the name of science.
Near the end of the video, I'll use the water ejection feature, I don't know if it is necessary to eject the water, I have many smartwatches and most of them have this feature, but I never use it after taking a shower for example. I think it is a gimmick but should work in theory, I just don't use it.
You don't need to worry about getting electrocuted with the charging ports on this watch because this watch charges wirelessly as a typical Samsung watch. this design decision is good for water but it is painfully slow to charge... takes hours to charge, super slow. my other smartwatches have pins in the back and they are ok for water too. they charge super fast.
for some reason you can't charge this watch with the older galaxy watch chargers, it will try to charge but fail. come on!. also samsung didn't include the wall adapter this time, double come on!
anyway... what is this video about?. oh yes, it is about water resistant. anyway enjoy the video, I don't know if it because of the soap, but the band lost a bit of shininess after it dried. it was very difficult to dry, took hours to dry in a towel and near a low heat vent.
hopefully samsung include a second silicone band next time, they cost them probably 45 cents to make and it will really improve the experience with water.
Have fun. stay tuned for more galaxy watch videos.
by the way in my opinion if you already have a galaxy watch or the gear s3, the is no need to upgrade, the wow factor fades pretty quick with this watch 3.
Thank You
