Freestyle head position is one of the most important aspects of an efficient freestyle swim. So, which head position is the best for freestyle? Swim Smooth’s Head Coach Paul Newsome is here to show you in this episode of Swim Training featuring an Endless Pool Fastlane system.
All head positions are not created equal, but in order to be a comfortable swimmer, you must choose the head position that is right for you. Coach Newsome will take you through the possibilities and show you how to find which style is right for you.
The Endless Pools Fastlane® lets you experiment. Since the adjustable Endless Pools current remains steady, you can feel how each micro-adjustment affects your pace.
In this video, Coach Paul demonstrates four different head positions so you can see how each one influences his position relative to the Fastlane – closer if he's going faster, further as he slows.
Note: beginning around the 3:24 mark, the water distorts the size of the Fastlane unit in relation to the swimmer. The Fastlane unit measures just 34"" tall, 18"" deep, and 29"" wide.
