Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Still on the character recruitment hunt, but now I've got to put in some more significant work to get the last few ones I can recruit.

Starting out, I'm back in the Mayfall Forest. If you recall the last time we were here, a man by the name of Richard was having some issues with rogue mist monsters. With Ljusalf in the party and Richard now back at his hut, we can see if he's made any progress with them.

Upon talking to him, he mentions a spot deeper in the forest where the mist monster population seems to be very concentrated. He's had no luck trying to push further once he reaches that point and thusly asks for help to make that last push. Agree to help and he'll become a temporary party member for this next dungeon, but for all intents and purposes he'll be permanent by the time this is all wrapped up.

Richard's basically a Daniel-esque character with nearly identical stats. Only big difference is that Richard has a higher physical defense score and lower magic defense compared to him. To be honest, that's not good enough when Daniel has to tag along for damn near every major story event based destination.

As for the new area of the forest, there's two screens to traverse. The first one has some mist filling into the area with four chests spread around to pickup with some nice stuff inside (Gold Dust, Green Herb, Cotton Scarf, Silk Beret).

The second area? The mist is so much thicker that it turns into an area with invisible walls everywhere. Three chests with one of them (Frost Shard) that I didn't pickup immediately (but do in a quick clip at the end).

The other two chests though have some uses. Steel Boots are nice defensive options for this point in the game, but the real beauty is the next tier of mp+ boosting accesories, the Quartz Amulet which boosts said stat by 2.

The normal enemies here are either Proto Mists or the boss of the Mayfall Forest, the Mist Monster. Can be a little scary in groups (and the Mist Monster gets buffed up here to keep pace with your expected power level).

When you hit the save point in the very misty area, the source of the mist lies just beyond...and surprise, it's a mama mist monster and she's not going to let her precious home turf be taken away from her.

The Mist Queen is quite the step up in danger compared to previous boss threats. She's quite evasive, has very high magic defense, and has some powerful attacks such as Thunderbolt (tier 2 thunder spell), Mist Cloud (hits everyone), and even a damaging normal attack.

Her biggest danger though isn't a very broken attack, but rather the fact she's insanely fast. Seeing her get two turns to most everybody else's one is not at all uncommon to see, making healing a very taxing affair since if your mages go down, you're very likely losing the battle with how dodgy she can be.

If you have any tier 2 elemental spells, it's best to let Midian and/or Myst use them to let those casts hit as hard as possible. Your frontliners should only be concerned about dispensing heals, breaking out the odd attack if absolutely nothing else is needed.

Before the fight ends, make sure to steal her precious Gold Dust item. She also drops a copy of Thunderbolt upon her defeat.

After the fight, it turns out the Mist Queen was nothing more than a water spirit by the name of Naja coming back to her senses. Turns out if you want to pursue a relationship, it might be a good idea to, you know, not have said relationship be with an opposite element to yourself.

On the plus side? Not only does Richard joined permanently, but Naja joins as well and she's...actually quite good. Bit higher magic than Ljusalf & Yan Angwa, but also with a very nice speed score, the highest any mage has had to this point. Only her mp+ stat is bad, but amulets can fix that up easily.

Next time...a return to the Mad King's vault.
