Mortimer's on his final life with the effects of shattering his own soul finally catching up to him. His own BS detector goes off and realizes just how badly he screwed up.

When you get to the last life, regardless of difficulty, the colorless flames disappear, giving you access to bum rush Mortimer who now will not move off the throne. Normally, you'd be in the clear besides the sole new wraith introduced.

Lunatic though throws in one last wrench...the Helheim portal machine fires up again, but this time it's way more pronounced. When it finishes, one very angry demon emperor comes roaring in. Asmodeus is back and he wants corpses strewn about, meaning you need to quite literally bum rush and take out Mortimer in 2 turns, possibly 3, before Asmodeus starts deleting your units one by one with Demon Light or even Ravager due to having 8 move and Demon Light being a 1-3 range weapon.

As for the new wraith, it's going to hit close to home because this one is in the shape of Baudimon. Charge isn't going to be an issue due to how Voidblade works. If it hits, the target's hp is reduced to 1. Can't double, but if two of them target the same unit, they're very likely going to die. If you've got spare Rescue charges, it's not a bad idea to bring up someone that can deal with one in a single combat round. A tall task considering they're packing 30 speed.

Thankfully for me, Hailey absolutely saved me some headaches here. Galeshot lets her double easily and she's a crit machine. Only 20 str? Who cares, she kills one Baud wraith with a Galeshot crit, gets another turn, then deletes a second one with another crit.

For what it's worth, Aylanda does get a brief unique convo if she engages one of the Baud wraiths. My girl then gives me even more breathing room by crit killing the wraith when I was just going to set it up so Isabelle could get the kill via Dawnbreaker.

The final wraith? With a bit of help from Zahri, Isabelle's able to walk up to it and get another critical to one shot it. Wouldn't have been a problem if it didn't go off because it would have been low enough for Helga to fly in and finish off.

All that leaves is Mortimer who brings Miracle in as his final skill. Isabelle & Aylanda hardly care due to their Nihil skills though.

Also, every turn that passes will have Mortimer spawn a few randomly chosen wraiths. Nothing you can't deal with though.

In the end, Tendaris somehow gets to talk to Mortimer without the ill effects seen on his skin, Crixus proves how much of a badass he is by proving he can tank a hit from Mortimer at full hp (if it hit that is), and Aylanda getting the honors for the killing blow.

Now, you're probably wondering what happens if Jakka decided to take Asmodeus's deal back in Helheim. We'll see that soon, but next time the ending cutscenes to this chapter happen.
