The day opens up with a mysterious figure approaching and wanting to speak to Baudimon. Jakka calls him an "ugly bastard", but Baud can see through the disguise...and the player too if you recognize the clothes. Turns out it's Mortimer, shock & awe!

When Baud mentions his plan to get out of Andaron with Aylanda to get away from Randall, Mortimer suggests a completely different idea...and a smart one in all honesty. Everyone at Malthrak hates Randall's guts and want to oust him, especially now that they know there's a Lightbringer out there. With Ayla having a child on the way, Baud has a pretty clear legitimacy to the throne.

Oh yes, Malthrak's in complete chaos with rioting, that too. Now's the best time to strike...and after Baud converses with Aylanda, she wants to oust Randall as well. Baud gets the army mobilized and they set out for Malthrak.

Speaking of Malthrak...there's a scene there where, if it wasn't obvious Randall wants to rule with an iron fist of tyranny before, it sure is now as you can feel just hold cold and ruthless his words are as he delivers his orders to Gustav & Isabelle.

The scene eventually returns to Baud's army as they arrive at Caranos River. The job is simple enough for this chapter's objective....Baud needs to arrive at the square marked to the west.

The problem lies with the two armies placed here to stop Baud in his tracks. Deep in the south is the bow knight army of House Ring led by Liam. This would be the easier group to get through honestly.

To the west? Elite lance cavaliers from House Speargarden with the deadly & fierce Alexander leading them alongside his wife Caroline.

This chapter's secret lunatic objective? It wants you to attack Alexander one time. Don't need to kill him or anything of the sort. Just bring Kurt with a Longbow in his inventory at the bare minimum to make your life easier.

Also, bring Jakka along. He has a very very important task to do regarding Caroline.

Just as the map kicks off, Mortimer decides to join the army. Take note that him dying is a game over so don't get too crazy with him.

Thankfully, Mortimer is a very solid Sage with access to two high end tomes in Aura & Thoron. Solid personal skill in Illusionist too which boosts his avoid by 15 when attacked.

What really elevates him though is his ability to summon a clone of himself. The clones only have 1 hp, but they're very close to the level of combat power that Mortimer himself is at. This is the alternate way to attacking Alexander for the secret lunatic objective as you can just use a clone to do the job.

Other than that secret objective, this chapter is a bit of a breather compared to the last two. You could in theory turtle up in the middle without too much hassle, but there's something VERY nice you can possibly get if you're quick enough. Fred's going to help me with that task as he's beelining it for Liam in the southwest. Having the Holy Symbol will help too.

Everyone else just does the usual cleanup job at the start with two pairs doing supports. Shom & Shay start theirs...and it's only going to take 2 more chapters to fully max it out.

The other one is Bjarki & Berit getting their A rank support. This gives Berit the same Sturdy skill that Bjarki has. Her defenses aren't typically as good as his so the -4 damage taken when attacked helps her immensely. Bonus damage when attacked too is just a nice boon as well.

After the first enemy turn, Samuel & Theodor return in the southeast. Apparently his near death experience has given Theodor new clarity with his mission to protect Aylanda...and he wants to apologize to Baud & Ayla too.

So, fun fact...Samuel & Theodor will show up here and can be used, even if either one perished in a previous chapter. There are penalties to this though. For Theodor, he won't come with a shiny new Dire Thunder tome that has the brave effect attached.

As for Samuel? The penalty is that his granddaughter Christina won't show up alongside the two. I don't have to worry about any of this so let's take a quick look at Christina.

Christina's another trainee unit type, meaning you're going to have to help setup kills for her to train her up. 4 con also does not do her any good favors early on either.

Her biggest strength? Access to the female Paladin class in the future which is just an amazingly strong class overall.

Growth wise, Christina is very much like Fred. Average across the board, but that just means she can turn into a beast if given enough time.

Christina's personal skill is Doe Eyes, lowering the avoid of all enemies adjacent to her by 15.

More next time!
