Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we are going to be talking about the RV Designer puck light. Now, this is going to be an LED one, and it's going to be four and a half inches in width. Now, there are going to be two different versions of this that you can't get. The one I have in my hand right here is just from the regular version. There is going to be one that does have a built-in switch (light clicks) to it, so you just press the center of it, (light clicks) and it turns on and off.
But besides that, they're going to work exactly the same. And these are going to be great for a lot of different circumstances. So if you have a motor home or an RV, and you just want to put this next to some of your cabinets or on your ceiling, just for some extra light, these are really nice, especially since this has a warmer tone to it, makes things feel a little bit more cozy. It's also really handy if you have anything like a toy haul or trailer, because some people use that as their workspace, or when they're pulling in their vehicles, they want to see in here a little bit more, so that's why I really like these. And they're going to be very compact, very flat, so you're less likely of making contact with them.
But if you ever do make contact with them, especially if you are pulling a vehicle inside of your trailer, it's okay. They're relatively pretty affordable. So if you ever do need to replace one, it won't be too bad compared to some nicer lights out there. Now, this is going to be 396 lumen, so it does give you a lot of light output. And something else that's really nice about this is it's going to have this frosted lens on here.
So what that's going to do is help disperse that so it's not going to be as harsh on your eyes. So it looks a little bit nicer when we do have it inside of our trailer. Another thing to keep into account is if you need something a little bit smaller than this since it is four and a half inches, I think it's going to work in most cases, but if you have a really tight space, there are going to be some other ones that are going to be three and a quarter in diameter. The other thing that's nice about this is it's going to be an LED light, so it is going to last a long time while also giving you nice good light output. When it comes to installing it though, it's going to be really easy to do.
It's probably going to take you maybe five to 10 minutes. So if you're curious about how we approached it, I'll show you that process now. All right, so all we have to do is grab this light and typically you'll have to turn on the back of it. You might have to squeeze a little bit. Once you get this kind of loose, you'll be able to pull on it some. If you need to, you can grab a flathead to pry this out a bit. There we have it. So with that removed, I'm just going to set this off to the side, and then we can start connecting it to our wires. Make sure you have disconnected from your battery, just so you don't shock yourself. And you're going to have your white and your black wire. The black wire, that is going to be your power. The white one's going to be your ground. Can I get this started What I'm going to do today is I'm going to grab some wire nuts, make this connection here. Now, if you feel like there is going to be some water that might get in here, I recommend using heat shrink butt connectors instead. You go in that process, make sure you crimp it down on either side, and then come back with the heat gun to seal the deal. For this one, once I get this wire nut on here, then I'm going to come back with some black electrical tape, seal the bottom of it to make sure it doesn't come undone. All right, so once you have these connected, then we're going to come back through. We're going to stuff all these wires back into our wall here. Make sure you're putting them in a pretty good spot where you're not going to damage them once we start drilling in here. There we go. You can make some pilot holes. First, I'd recommend finding out where exactly this is going to mount to. What's going to be best for you I don't have any holes to line it up with, but the hardware I have will probably
