On an cold November day, Penn Rail Videos was exploring the region around southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware in search of railroading action. With not much luck on the NS Port Road Secondary that morning, we decided to try our luck with the East Penn Railroad. They are a local shortline that serves various customers throughout eastern PA and northern Delaware. We found one of the recently-purchased GP38-2s #2173 in charge of a short freight heading towards Kennett Square. We'll first catch the train heading south on the Wilmington & Northern branch, a former branch of the Reading Company carrying the same name. Further along, the train then jumps onto the former Pennsylvania Railroad's Octoraro branch to head west to its final destination. We'll only see the train at a few spots before setting off to find some action on the nearby CSX Philly Sub.
The GP38-2 puts on a great show for us on this cold November day, so sit back and enjoy some shortline railroading in southeastern PA.
