This was one of my favorite songs of 1987, and it's by singer-songwriter Donna Summer, who took it to #48 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The song was written and co-produced by Brenda Russell, who also did backing vocals and plays additional keyboards on the track. "Dinner With Gershwin" did better on other charts like the Dance chart, where it went to #13, and reached its highest position of #10 on the R&B chart. The song also did well in the UK, going to #13 on the UK Pop chart. And it's another of those singles that I thought deserved to be a bigger hit.
