This was a request I got last year. I've searched my comments section, but I can't find out who made it so I'm unable to give credit. The commenter asked for a trailer focused on Doctor Doom as a tribute to the late actor Julian McMahon who died that year. Sorry it took so long.The project is partially based off a proposed idea for a Doctor Doom solo back in the 2010s, but it's mostly just what I'd personally like to see in a Doctor Doom film.
Following his defeat at the hands of Johnny Storm back in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Victor Von Doom returns to his homeland- the small European nation of Laveria. Here he seeks out his old allies: Valeria, Doom's childhood friend, and Kristoff Vernard, Doom's future protege.
However since Doom's last trip to Latveria, the country has been taken over by the cruel ruler Prince Rudolfo Fortunov, who has let much of Latveria fall to poverty and decay while he enforces order with his armies.
After Fortunov's soldiers kill Kristoff's family, Victor Von Doom finds himself drawn into a conflict with the Latverian Prince. Drawing on his great scientific skill, Doom creates a group of robot soldiers called the Doombots and begins to rall the people against Fortunov in a rebellion as Doom challenges the prince for the right to rule the nation.
I see this film as being a rise to power story with Doom eventually becoming the king of Latveria, just as he is in the comics. Doom would not be a traditional hero in the film, but rather an anti-villain- a person desiring good for Latveria, but willing use cruel or immoral tactics to achieve his goals. Doom would push boundaries and cross lines in his desire to win, with both his enemies and allies suffering the consequences. There might even be a level of tragedy with Doom winning, but sacrificing everything that made him human in the process.
