A recreation of an old failed film from the 90s.
This a video I've wanted to make for years. I tried editing this video four years ago, back before I had this channel. It was my first attempt recreating an old failed film, and one of my attempts at seriously casting actors for a trailer. Fortunately I didn't have the skill or footage to pull off the video, and the project languished somewhere in my hard drive.
A few months ago, while finishing off another video project, that I got the urge to revive the project. With years of editing experience under my belt, I found the perfect place to get final pieces of footage I needed, and I decided to finish the video.
Black Panther was a film proposed in the early nineties. It would have been made by Columbia Pictures and would star Wesley Snipes as the title character. There isn't much other information I find on the film, only that it was cancelled for reasons that have been lost to time.
Wesley Snipes, who is a big Panther fan, tried to revive the project many times for the next ten years. Allegedly he wanted to make this film instead of Blade Trinity, and even considered making his own film featuring a knock-off Black Panther. But nothing came of his efforts.
As with most of my projects, I tried to use footage and audio which would match the period the trailer was set. As only the title character was offically cast, I used some fan casting to fill in the other roles.
I imagine the film starting shortly after the death of the last Black Panther, T'Chaka (James Earl Jones). His son, T'Chaka (Wesley Snipes), would have just taken on the mantle of the Black Panther and would have to defend the Kingdom of Wakanda against the mercenary Ulysses Klawn (Sean Bean).
Klaw would seek to steal some of the the kingdom's deposits of vibranium metal to create a dangerous sonic superweapon. Klaw would be aided a disgruntled Wakandan warrior, M'Baku, a follower of the forbidden White Gorilla Cult, who seeks to claim the kingdom's throne for his own.
