Voices so loud, she was afraid other people could hear them. That's how a psychologist who has treated Lindsay Clancy since shortly after the night she took her children's lives describes the hallucinations she later reported experiencing at the time of the tragedy.
Dr. Paul Zeizel gave jurors an in-depth description of psychosis and the symptoms associated with it during his testimony for the defense in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial on Tuesday.
Zeizel said people suffering from psychosis can experience auditory hallucinations — and sometimes malevolent voices like the one Lindsay Clancy says told her to kill her three kids.
Prosecutors have stressed the fact that Clancy never reported hearing voices to her mental health providers before the killings as they cast doubt on her claim that a male voice commanded her to kill them.
Prosecutors also explored whether Zeizel may have coached or encouraged Clancy to say she heard voices after he began evaluating her — something he adamantly denied on the witness stand Tuesday.
