These shoes helped break a world record, but how do they change how you run?

Jacob Kiplimo shattered the half-marathon world record in Nike Alphafly 3s.

These shoes absorb more force, reducing the load on the muscles and tendons around the ankle.

This leads to less bending at the ankle, also known as ankle dorsiflexion.

With less bend, you may assume that the foot strike may shift closer to the forefoot.

However, this more so affects peak ankle bending, which happens just before the heel rises, not during initial contact where your foot strike pattern is seen.

So while super shoes may reduce ankle bending, it does not necessarily change his preferred footstrike pattern.
