How your foot lands and where your foot lands are different factors.

What is the difference?

Your foot strike pattern will affect how forces are distributed when you run.

Landing closer to the forefoot may bias loads more toward the calf/foot region.

Landing closer to the rearfoot may bias loads more toward the knee region.

However, this does not CHANGE the amount of force going through the leg.

What can change this is where your foot lands in relation to the body.

Landing closer to the body may reduce these peak forces.

Increasing your step rate or cadence helps you do this more naturally.

This is part of why step rate manipulation can be a more powerful tool than changing foot strike pattern when it comes to getting injured runners back running again.
