The Elgato 4K X does not work with the new M4 iPad Pro. In fact, it does not work with my M2 iPad Pro either, although, it did work with it before I updated the official Elgato software for Mac.
It also has a number of issues on my M1 Max MacBook Pro using OBS. It does not record rec.709. It also uses MJPEG when it shouldn't. It indicates NV12 but is using MJPEG, both when it should and when it shouldn't. Basically, there are a lot of incorrect details in OBS and you con't be sure of a number of the settings you are using.
I didn't make it super clear in the video but my 4K X is up to date with its firmware and is on MCU: 23.12.21 Also, the Mac Elgato Capture Device Utility is up to date and is version: 1.3.0.629
I also forgot to mention in the video that my 4K X was working with my M1 iPad Pro the last time I tested it and this was after the software update.
Here are two links to the questions that I asked Elgato and OBS to answer. As of yet, neither Elgato or OBS have answered my requests for support and the answers to my questions. I posted these questions over three weeks ago.

Let me know in the comments if your Elgato 4K X is working perfectly on your Apple Silicon Mac computer or your iPad Pro and what versions are you using. Or, are you have problems like I and so many other people are having?
The headphones that I use with my iPads and Macs are the Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X Studio headphones. These are awesome sounding closed back headphones, however, the cushion on the headband is a terrible design and prone to falling apart. Buy with caution: geni.us/BeyerdynamicDT700ProX
