I'd looked around for audio microphone comparisons, but most were early ones before DJI updated firmware to stop the fan running while recording video, or just recorded inside in a selfie situation, which isn't where I plan to use Osmo which is for outdoor family and hobby videos.
This is with OSMO Firmware v1.6.2.10 which had 2 improvements over original firmware, firstly fan stops running when video is being recorded, also sound level is adjustable (and default is 30%, this was at 50% but could go higher for distance).
Internal Microphone is unusable IMHO, even just for syncing sound with off camera audio.
Fleximic is fine for sync sound and maybe a bit more, and is small enough to fit in the Osmo case easily, its also cheap or free if you bought an early Osmo DJI would provide these free.
Tieclip microphone for 99p is great but obviously awkward with cable, I generally use this with a Zoom H-1 audio recorder in pocket, so not restricted by cable and just sync audio with video when editing which is easy enough if you clap a few times at start of each shot.
Rode VideoMicro certainly works better, but is quite bulky, and around £50/$60 so a lot more expensive then fleximic or tieclip, and doesn't compete with off camera recording which isn't too difficult and for around the same cost you can buy an external sound recorder which is useful for lots of other things.
