Does God hate divorce more than he hates chronic infidelity, abuse, and neglect of duty in a marriage? Although loving faithful marriages were God's plan from the beginning, God knew people would be horrible to each other. God allowed divorce to protect his beloved people from a hardhearted or indifferent spouse. Where there is a pattern of sexual immortality, or physical, emotional, or even spiritual harm or severe neglect, God actually commanded divorce several places in the Bible. You'll see these verses in this video.
Regarding the "God hates divorce" verse. It is an anti-abuse verse, not an anti-divorce verse. Did you know that for the first 2,000 years of Bible translation, Malachi 2:16 was NEVER interpreted as "God hates divorce" or "I hate divorce"? Why did King James suddenly change it and wander so far off the ranch? In the past 2,400 years, since Malachi was written, that verse has only been interpreted as "God hates divorce" for 400 of those years. We'll look at better ways of translating it in this video.

The truth is that God doesn't prohibit divorce. He wants loving undefiled marriages. But what happens if the marriage is the opposite? God gives a way of escape.
