I'm a massive fan of the Castlevania anime, love the first three seasons and am mixed on the fourth but man, it has some of highest highs I've seen both animation-wise and narratively in the entire scope of video game adaptations. I'd go as far to say that it's the BEST video game adaptation ever put to screen. While I'm only four episodes into Nocturne at the moment, I am beyond excited composer Trevor Morris decided to bring another classic Castlevania theme from the games; Divine Bloodlines from Rondo of Blood. With the multiple variations of the show, Ari Mason provides melodic vocalizations throughout the tracks to add a heart, a yearning to the classic theme, with thumping percussion and a shredding guitar adding grit and electric energy to the piece. The original track is a great piece, but Morris transforms it into something so cinematic and grand, a theme encapsulating Richter's pain and sorrow into a harrowing declaration of his retribution and heritage. I hope we get a lot more themes from the games, because with the unreleased Bloody Tears and this trifecta of remixes, Morris does more than justice to the original scores of the games.
