๐๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฑ was a scheduled international passenger flight from Bridgetown to Havana with an intermediate stop in Kingston. The flight was being operated by a Douglas DC-8 (Reg. CU-T1201) on ๐ข๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฒ, ๐ญ๐ต๐ณ๐ฒ.
The plane departed Bridgetown at 17:15 local time. 9 minutes later, the captain declared an emergency and informed ATC about an explosion on board. He was cleared to return for an emergency landing when shortly later, the plane lost height rapidly and crashed in a nose down, right wing low attitude into the sea, 5 miles offshore. The plane disintegrated on impact and all 73 people aboard were killed, among them 24 members of the Cuban National Fencing Team.
