In my crochet tutorial today I’ll be showing you how to make this crochet wattle and gumnut applique.

For this pattern you will need any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Catona cotton colours (254) Moon Rock, (208) Yellow Gold, (114) Shocking Pink and (244) Spruce. A crochet hook, I used a 2.5mm hook. A darning needle to weave in ends. Scissors. Thread and needle to stitch the pieces to the branch. A cockatiel with branch applique and a possum applique if desired.

The size of the wattle and gumnut in Catona will be. The medium wattle and gumnut will be 12cm wide x 13.5cm high (4.75” wide x 5.25” high) when using 4 ply crochet cotton. The small wattle and gumnut will be 7cm wide x 11cm high (2.75” wide x 4.25” high) when using 2 ply crochet cotton.
