KULT News checked out one of Matti Suuronen’s so-called “Futuro houses” in Carlisle, OH, originally conceived in 1968 as a "portable" ski chalet.
We then ventured down the road in Carlisle and aimed our cameras at a bank that had cameras aimed at us with expected results.
That was on Nov. 3, 2023. A couple months later, on Jan. 11, 2024, we re-visited the area and swung through the towns of Monroe and Middletown where more paranoid businesses called the police on us for exercising our First Amendment rights. Would the police recognize and respect our rights or would they make ridiculous assumptions about our intentions and fan the flames of paranoia in the Midwest as so many cops have done before them?

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
