The concept behind 'Joe 90' (1968) was that a 9-year-old boy could have the knowledge and skills of top academic and military minds fed into him by a sort of computer ('The Big Rat'). So primed, he could function as a master spy. Once again Barry Gray provided the themes; the opener featured the guitar of Vic Flick, known for performing the James Bond theme in 'Dr No'. (The next series from Gerry Anderson, 'Secret Service', would be a transitional effort with both marionettes and humans.)
